Happy New Year everyone!

I'm so sorry i haven't been keeping you up to date, i was supposed to blog at Christmas, but, getting engaged, kind of distracted me!!!! Yes, i am Mrs. Wilson to be! So exciting! Hope you've all had a lovely break, it's my first day back at work, and i'm feeling refreshed and ready for 2011.

Wow, this season gets busy doesn’t it! Breathe!

Christmas with the Wilsons this year was lovely! I love Christmas! But on top of all the lovely trimmings that make Christmas so Christmassy, Christmas for me is so much more! Rejoice our saviour is born. I know we can come so familiar with the Christmas story, Jesus was born in a manger etc…. but for me, Jesus IS my Saviour! Jesus has changed my life, pulled me from the pit, rescued me from mediocrity, loved me when I didn’t love him, excited me for this world and my life, given me hope, blessed me with peace, and helped me understand the depths of his grace. Jesus was born in a manger... is massive for me! God became man. I ask myself, would I have left heaven? God came to earth to love and to seve. This Christmas I celebrate the gift of life, that Jesus has given me. I really hope you all had a lovely Christmas, but looking onwards now to 2011, god has more than you could even ask or imagine...

I'm really thinking about god's promises. A ring on my finger has changed everything! in a good way! but i feel different, i feel more myself! I believe the earth's foundations are built on god's promises to us, that he loves us and will never leave us, and as my ring reflects matt's promise to me, i feel entwined into another promise. His commitment, his promise to me changes everything. I can't wait till we're married, if i feel more myself now, can't wait till i'm actually mrs. wilson.

but yay i can get all excited about cake and bunting and pretty stuff...

2011 is going to be a year of adventure, a year of faith, a year of stepping out into the unknown. I've got a new website coming soon, so watch this space, where i will have a calendar of my gigs, free downloads of songs, links to my creative friends who inspire me endlessly, link to my shop, and a gallery of artwork that i'm going to be embarking on this year. I'm so excited, so i'll let you know when it's up and running!

I pray that 2011 is a year of adventure for you, that you step out in faith, and enjoy all that god has for you! Cos it's loads!

Centre Stage

Hellloooooo,

Sorry it's been a while! I've been very busy! So latest update on music adventure is...yesterday I was interviewed at Premier Christian Radio! Thanks to all who messaged me about what Christmas song i should cover, in the end i chose Slade, 'Merry Christmas Everyone'. It'll be aired on Christmas Eve between 5pm-6pm and Christmas Day 6pm-7pm - Freeview 725 or DAB Digital Radio!

Not only that, i was interviewed for the Centre Stage slot, and played one of my favourite tracks off the album, 'Dandelions and Tigers'. This will be aired some time in January, i'll keep you posted! Running up to the interview i have been really excited and not nervous at all, but when i was getting ready in the morning and getting the train to Pimlico that was a different story. Lots of things seemed to be going wrong like they always do at the last minute! My guitar was still in Manchester being repaired, and because of the snow i couldn't pick it up before the interview, so i borrowed my boyfriend's, guitar. But on the morning could we find the guitar case!!!? Of course not, so there i was, travelling the london underground with a very funny shaped black bin bag! Not looking too professional i'll tell you! Loretta the presenter was lovely though and just said i looked like an authentic busker! Glad i didn't look too scatty! So i was full of nerves, couldn't even eat my lunch before hand when i met my mum and dad - must have been nervous! But when i got into the studio and met Loretta, it was great - nerves went and i was filled with peace and joy! thanks so much to all who knew about the interview and prayed for me! so so grateful!

I was asked about my faith, my songs, my dreams, the charity that i help to support, my blog and online shop! She really bigged me up! So thank you so much Loretta if your reading this! It was a pleasure to meet you and such a privilege to be on the show! I will keep you posted about the date of the interview when it'll be aried and i'll post the audio on my blog, if you miss it live. Thanks so much everyone for all your support, it's a very exciting journey at the moment!

God bless, and watch out, i'll be posting my christmas acoustic cover of slade on here shortly to help you get in the christmas mood! I've just got back from my friend Kate's house, helping her decorate her tree and watching Love Actually, feeling very christmassy indeed!

Hey guys,

I know it's not December yet but i had my first mulled wine today and i'm feeling all sparkly. Sorry if you don't allow yourself to get Chrismassy until December but i actually need your Christmas opinion - I get to sing a Christmas song for Premier Christian Radio and it'll be played Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I love Christmas but i don't have a favourite Christmas song so that's where you come in. Please help me choose what song to sing! Do you have a favourite song? Wow! Just heard my song on Premier Radio! Demo of the week! But all because of my mum - Alison Ranftler, who also got a shout out on the radio today! Just want to say a massive thank you to my mum for believing in me and being my promoter. When i had the CDs made, my mum bought a load and sent them to friends and family, and one to Premier Christian Radio. I didn't really think anything of it, until today when i heard my song '63', based on Psalm 63 live on the radio. It was so weird but really exciting! i'm on a massive high. The presenter Loretta, also bigged up my blog, and bigcartel shop, and also the amazing CRMI who i am raising money for! Thank you so much mum x

Thank you! So far CD sales have meant i have passed on 250 squids to CRMI! I was just thinking what a privilige it is for me to be able to bless the amazing charity based in Uganda. It is as much as a blessing to give, as to receive, sometimes even more...

I'm really enjoying this music adventure so far. Last sunday i lead worship in prison. It was amazing. Whilst i was working out what songs to sing in the week, i thought i would become nervous, but i didn't, and even on the morning, i just felt so at home there. It was such a blessing, again, to be able to share the love of jesus to such broken women.

I sang the last song on my album called "His Holy Name" with a bit of Mary Mary "Shackles" added in for good measure.

Sorry haven't updated much lately, more news, and gigs, and new songs coming soon!

Just thought i'd share with you the amazing talent that is mr matthew wilson. I had been working so hard to get everything ready for the gig, making the cds, practicing the songs, and harmonies with sophie, and organising the event, that when matthew arrived, he gave me this, as a 'well done' present! I can't stop looking at it. It's so beautiful. How he can just draw with such detail yet make it look so interesting with all the mark makings and colours.

Wow. Can't believe all that prep and it's over.... first gig done and dusted! It was amazing! Thanks so much to all who came and supported! I really enjoyed myself, hope you did too! I was wondering when the nerves were going to kick in, but they didn't! SING A NEW SONG

Hello!

Here it is. My first blog. I'm a little bit nervous! I've been on a roller coaster journey with my music, feeling completely scared, and vunerable, to now, still out of my depth, but in total peace and loving it. I guess it starts with this...

Psalm 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

In the Bible there are many verses especially in the Psalms where it says to sing a new song, so i guess, i started doing that. And then people quite liked them (thanks guys), so i guess that's why i'm here. To share my new songs.

I got a guitar for my 16th birthday and was like, “aw, thanks?”, really ungrateful haha! Looking back, it's the best present a 16 yr old could ever have, but anyhoo… I learnt a few chords, but nothing much. When packing for uni, i thought, “that will make me look cool”, so took the guitar along. I started to play it when I started going to church in the second year. God was revealing to me who he was, his amazing love, and grace that could be all mine, and who he created me to be. And coming from a world of hurt, there was a lot to take in, so I dealt with it all through song, and just started to write down some prayers, and somehow god blessed our time through music. I’ve never had a guitar lesson, and I only recently had my first singing lesson from my friend Nic (check her out she’s amazing – www.singingstudios.co.uk / www.lz7.co.uk) So in a way it’s all really new to me. God speaks to us in all different ways, and he used a lot of my friends to guide me to worship and writing music. So I’m just following all the open doors, seeing where god leads me, and enjoying the ride. It’s all for Him. The main confirmation for me, was one night, I asked god, “are you sure about this?” kind of just double checking that I was doing the wrong thing, not wasting his or my time. The next morning, my friend prays for me (not knowing a thing about my music, as I was quite shy about the whole thing, only a few people knew) and she says, “I’m sorry it’s really vague, but I just really feel god saying to you, he wants you to sing a new song”. No joke.

Thank you lord.
